dont forget that if you have to reinstall your system back to the manufactures install you lose your digital copy and that sucks if your computer gets infected and crashes

In answer to your question -- yes. Much more palatable.

I just got Wall*E 3-disc as a gift for someone else, and wanted to know what the deal was in advance of the wrapping paper coming of.

This post was really helpful; thanks, Ryan!

No. First off, the one time use is total crap. After all, how many houses playing Blu-Ray movies have just one computer?

But your proposals don't work either because I can't stand iTunes and never use it. It's bloated crap-ware that I refuse to install.

Requiring a code and a physical copy of the DVD is enough to keep widespread piracy at bay. Yes, a few people will end up going through the motions to get it installed, but most will not. But what's worse is the idea that I have a shiny coaster going to the landfill as soon as I install the copy.

Who can we protest against the Digital Copy "One-Time" thing? And how? Is there a direct ownership of Digital Copy's or does it all connect to DRM?
